In The Crimson Campaign: Drastically outnumbered and pursued by the enemy's best, Tamas must lead his men on a reckless march through northern Kez to safety, and back over the mountains so that he can defend his country from an angry god, Kresimir. Stretched to his limit, Tamas is relying heavily on his few remaining powder mages, including the embittered Taniel, a brilliant marksman who also happens to be his estranged son, and Adamat, a retired police inspector whose loyalty is being tested by blackmail. But it also provoked war with the Nine Nations, internal attacks by royalist fanatics. In Promise of Blood: Field Marshal Tamas' coup against his king sent corrupt aristocrats to the guillotine and brought bread to the starving. Check out the complete Powder Mage Trilogy in this omnibus edition, a series that Brandon Sanderson called "Just plain awesome!" In a world where mages control gunpowder and bullets, a brilliant general must defend his country from both war and insurrection.

Li Bai is often regarded, along with Du Fu, as one of the two greatest poets in China's literary history. His fellow poet Du Fu counted him to the group of Chinese scholars that he called the "Eight Immortals of the Wine Cup" in a poem. pinyin: Lǐ Bái / Lǐ Bó 701–762) was a Chinese poet. Because he was a Yankee and writer, he was a novelty and a lot of doors were open to him.Īnd he took full advantage of these open doors, experiencing some highly entertaining events and meeting some truly unique people. One of these trips was to Savannah and he became hooked, eventually spending more time in Savannah than NYC. He was living in New York City when he realized that for the price of a nice dinner, he could instead fly to different destinations for weekend trips. The author began traveling to Savannah on a fluke. Sharing the stage on equal footing are the city of Savannah and the eccentrics who thrive in the isolated, historic, genteel and very Southern city. But I wouldn’t even say the murder is the star of the show. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is about a murder that takes place in Savannah, Georgia in 1981. Once I came to terms that I wasn’t reading straight-up nonfiction, I could sit back and enjoy the show. I say “true-ish” because the author admits he took some liberties with the timeline and I’m going to hazard a guess and say he did the same with the very long dialog passages. How am I just now reading it?!? True-ish crime that is pure entertainment gold. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was published in 1994 and spent four years on the New York Times bestseller list. 5/20/2023 0 Comments Infinite by brian freemanIf you're shopping for a disc golf fanatic or for your Disc Golf buddies and don't know what to get them, we also offer G ift Cards that will allow them to get exactly what they want. Its reliable account of their ethnography, culture, institutions, and geography is the most thorough that has survived from ancient times, and to this day remains the preeminent classical text on the subject. The Germania has been the most influential source for the early Germanic peoples since the Renaissance. Agricola, the general primarily responsible for the Roman conquest of Britain and governor of Britannia from 77–85 AD, was Tacitus’ father-in-law. The Agricola, about Roman Britain, is roughly the same length. It was translated from the Latin by Alfred Church and William Brodribb in 1876 and published in The Complete Work of Tacitus by Random House’s Modern Library in 1942. The Germania is a short work, not really a “book.” My copy, “Germany and Its Tribes,” is a mere 23 pages long - albeit in moderately small wartime print on thin paper containing no notes, annotations, maps, illustrations, or other editorial aids. Tacitus, a senator, is believed to have held the offices of quaestor in 79, praetor in 88, consul in 97, and proconsul or governor of the Roman provinces in “Asia” (western Turkey), from 112–13. |
